The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will convene a meeting of its Law Enforcement Advisory Panel in conjunction with the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission's Law Enforcement Committee. The meeting will be held at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, One Grand Boulevard, in Point Clear, Alabama, Wednesday, October 17, 2012, from 8:30 am until noon.
The Advisory Panel and Committee will meet jointly to review the Council's action schedule and the status of regulatory actions that have been submitted to the National Marine Fisheries Service for implementation. The group will also consider changes to recommendations for the timing of federal fishery closures and potential impacts of exempted fishing permits approved for such events as fishing tournaments and issued during closed seasons. Finally, the group will consider approval of recently completed Strategic and Operations Plans, and review the states' Joint Enforcement Agreements.
The Law Enforcement Advisory Panel is made up of principal law enforcement officers from each of the five Gulf states, as well as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Law Enforcement, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Coast Guard, and NOAA General Counsel for Law Enforcement.
